Dear Colleagues,
As you may already know, from June 10th to 12th this year Rio de Janeiro will be jointly hosting the SOLACI and SBHCI congresses. As the Director of Congenital Heart Disease Intervention at SBHCI, I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome all of you, and to my friends in the specialization in particular. We are looking forward to a very special congress this year.
Congenital Heart Disease will be very well covered during the congresses, thanks to the fundamental help of our colleagues in Rio de Janeiro. In practice, we will have two and a half days of intense activities, with few intervals.
The preliminary program includes the transmission of eight live cases from two centers (Hospital de Cardiologia de Laranjeiras and Hospital de Clínicas de Niterói), and we’re very pleased to announce that both Dr. Joseph DeGiovanni and Dr. Shakeel Qureshi from London have confirmed their attendance.
We are also in the final stages of negotiating the transmission of two live cases of percutaneous closure of perimembranous ventricular septal defects from a Chinese center on Wednesday afternoon (June 10th), which will include the presence of the operation team leader who will share his extensive experience in this area, and show us some new prostheses models.
We have also invited Dr. John F. Rhodes Jr. of Duke University to join us for our Congresses, and we are awaiting his reply. Dr. Rhodes is a well known interventional cardiologist in the area of Congenital Heart Disease.
We would also like to encourage our Latin American colleagues to register for the exhibition of cases that will be presented during the two “Challenges in Hemodynamics Laboratory” sessions. These were very successful and well attended sessions at our last national SBHCI congresses in Brasília and Recife.
Best regards to all of you.
See you in Rio de Janeiro,
César A. Esteves
Director of Congenital Heart Disease Intervention at SBHCI and organizer of the Congenital Heart Disease theme at the SOLACI-SBHCI Congress
