Rules for submitting abstracts to the SBHCI-SOLACI 2009 Congress

The system for sending abstracts will be available beginning December 1, 2008.

Abstract’s authors should fill out a registration card with their personal references. Each author must register individually.

Deadline: Midnight March 8, 2009 with no extensions;


Registration and submissions will be done exclusively by electronic means.


Follow the instructions on the screen, clicking in the places indicated. The pages will show, in a sequential manner, the format required for the Congress.


Abstracts will be accepted in the following categories: 1) Intervention in Acquired Cardiovascular Diseases; 2) Intervention in Congenital Heart Disease; 3) Intervention in Extra-cardiac Diseases; 4) Nursing and Technicals;


The total number of characters is 2,000 with an extra 600 allowed for the title, names of authors and their institution, of uniform size, formatted by the electronic transmission system It will be possible to include a table. Graphs and figures cannot be included.


The abstract must be structured as follows
: introduction, methods, results, and conclusions.


The institution or institutions where the work was done, as well as the names of authors cannot not be cited in the body of the text.


Bibliographical references
must not be included in the text.


Abbreviations
, which should be kept to the minimum possible, should appear in parentheses, after the full word.


The results must be explained in the clearest manner possible and the conclusions must be based on the data presented. Abstracts with results and conclusions like “results will be presented and discussed…” will not be accepted.


It is not permitted to submit the same abstract under more than one category, under penalty of having the work disqualified.


It is possible to copy from another program (usually WORD) and to insert directly into the space for abstracts in the corresponding electronic page. Adjustments will be automatic.All content that exceed the established limits will be excluded by the system.


The abstracts can be sent in three different languages: Portuguese, English or Spanish.


The author has two options at the end of the text:
save the typed text as a draft and do not send it, being able to make changes until the stipulated deadline, or;
select the “send” option, submitting the abstract definitively for consideration by the Scientific Committee, after which no changes are permitted.


Each abstract sent will receive a number and an individual registration form must also be filled out with the date, author, co-authors and institution (two at most). The maximum number of authors allowed is 10 different people.


Do not send identical, duplicate or incomplete abstracts, due to inattention or incorrect use of the electronic system.


The author will be notified electronically of the approval of the abstract and under which category it will be presented.


The approved abstract should be presented by one of the authors duly enrolled in the Congress.


The SBHCI is not responsible for transportation or lodging costs related to the presentation of the approved abstracts.


The approved abstracts will be published in the Revista de Cardiologia Invasiva (Brazilian Journal of Invasive Cardiology) (www.rbci.org.br)


The abstracts will be evaluated by the 2009 Awards Committee designated by the Scientific Committee. Three different judges will do a blind evaluation of each abstract. Topics with conflicting grades (grade difference >5) will be judged again by the Scientific Committee. Grades will not be reported to the authors.
